The wait is over! After the rain comes sunshine as the Son of the Sun illuminates the world with the radiance of his musical energy! Jay Chou returns with Children of the Sun, his first album of brand-new original work in nearly four years.
Like the sun, wherever it shines, it brings light. Effortlessly unleashing his unparalleled musical creativity, the Son of the Sun leads us into a world of positive energy and music in its most imaginative form. Nearly four years after his last release, Jay Chou returns with 12 brand-new original songs, plus a special gift for fans, "Christmas Star," collected in his new album, Children of the Sun. Through his music, Jay awakens everyone's instinct to seek the light. Like rays of sunlight breaking through the clouds, his boundless creativity shines through these 12 songs, bringing warmth, dreams, magical rhythms, and soaring melodies together with a refreshed vocal style.
"Son of the Sun" is a nickname bestowed upon Jay Chou by the legendary "God of Songs," Jacky Cheung. The title originated during Jay Chou's Carnival World Tour concerts in Hong Kong in May 2023. Despite heavy rain and strong winds, the weather cleared just before each performance. Amused by Jay's extraordinary luck, Jacky Cheung sent him a mango printed with the words "Son of the Sun" along with a handwritten card. Touched by the gesture, Jay joked that "the sun came out in my heart" and happily claimed the title as his own.
The album cover was photographed inside Chapelle Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc in Paris, which also served as one of the music video's filming locations. Now an event space for exhibitions and photography, the chapel was transformed by the production team with meticulously researched 19th-century set design to match the storyline. Filmed at night, the crew used nine large boom cranes to illuminate the chapel's stained-glass windows, creating a mysterious, dark atmosphere.
Nearly four years after the release of Greatest Works of Art (2022), Jay Chou returns with an album shaped by a slower, more deliberate creative process. Taking time to craft the music, lyrics, and music videos, he presents 12 songs that unfold like paintings from his imagination, ranging from grand Impressionist-inspired works that blend classical art with cinematic storytelling to playful abstraction, landscape sketches inspired by real places, refined Chinese-style compositions, Gothic rock, romantic exotic influences, and gentle, heartfelt ballads. Built upon the unmistakable foundation of Jay Chou's signature style, Children of the Sun introduces a fresh and striking new musical palette.
